Massachusetts man to run from Boston to Provincetown this weekend — here’s why

This story was reported for NBC10 Boston

Will Temple plans to run from the Boston Common to the tip of Cape Cod in 24 hours or less on Saturday — all to raise money to protect LGBTQ+ youth.

A man from central Massachusetts is planning to run this weekend from Boston to Provincetown in 24 hours — an over 120-mile trek through winding roads and chilly November conditions.

Will Temple is a passionate fitness trainer who’s taking on the challenge for a cause close to his heart. He’s running to raise money for The Trevor Project, an organization working to prevent suicide among LGBTQ+ youth.

“I’m at my peak fitness right now, and I’ve built a good aerobic base … why not now,” Temple said, who’s been training intensely in preparation for the charity run.

It’s a cause close to Temple’s heart, since his brother is transgender and he has other family members as well who are in the LGBTQ+ community.

“It gives me goosebumps talking about it just because I’ve seen firsthand the negativity that can come from being a member of that community — when they’re just being themselves,” he said. “They’re no more or less than a person than anyone else.”

He’ll be hitting the pavement Saturday, taking off from Boston Common at around 1 p.m.
